Find out how and when

My 20 year old African grey parrot laid her third egg four days ago. She laid her first egg last year, as instructed we left that egg in the cage for a couple of days until the bird abandoned it then we removed it. This egg however she will not leave. She sits on the egg, turns it, and is very protective of it. She only leaves the egg to eat but if anyone approaches the cage she returns to the egg ruffles her feathers and sits on it. I'm concerned since it has been four days. How long should i wait before removing the egg forcefully. There is no male bird available to her so the egg is not fertile. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!
I'm a total non-expert, I just put in my own thoughts for your consideration. 4 days doesn't seem very long at all, to me. Let her have the egg as much as she wants, for a couple of weeks at least. It can't do much harm can it? If it gets broken, then remove it.
