spammers

Post by jgrey » Fri Feb 08, 2013 11:38 pm

we seem to be getting an awful lot of spammers on the forum just lately. how are new members approved on here, are they just automatically allowed to join?

also there is no way of contacting admin to leave messages to alert you to this. could they please be removed as they are spoiling the forum : (

it's a shame that there aren't regular members or moderators to remove or block these people. they spoil the forum : (

Dear All,

I am sorry that spammers are continuing to attack our forum, and for what gain?
Unfortunately, maintenance of the site is entirely down to me, and like most people, I am a very busy person.

I can assure you though that we, the PSUK Council, are looking into ways to prevent spammers and increasing the effort required for users to register with the forum.

I am listed as a moderator/administrator for ALL forums, so if you phave any issues you would like to discuss, then please let me know.
Kind Regards

Dear All,

Following recent 'spammer' attacks on our forum, the PSUK Council have put extra authentication measures in place for all new users of the site.

It is expected that this will completely deter all hoax user of the site.
