Q regarding bringing our pet birds to UK

Post by sarah29 » Tue Jul 31, 2012 11:50 pm

This may have been answered before. We may be moving to the UK from the US and would bring our pet birds with us. We have an African Grey and 5 cockatiels. Giving them up is out of the question.

Does anyone know the rules for quarantine?

Many thanks in advance,

you need to contact DEFRA. When I brought my bird back from Canada, I had to get him checked by a vet that endm then you specify where you want the bird to be quarantined which can be anywhere he won't have contact with poultry or other birds. In mmy case it was being kept in his cage indoors at my mother's house where we were staying at the time. He then gets another check by a ministry appointed vet and that's all it entails.
