My parrot has laid an egg !

Post by Hayleywr2 » Wed Jan 27, 2016 6:57 pm

My 20 year old Timney grey has laid its first egg. It isn't fertilised but I'm worried about Mum.
She is ok in herself ...quieter than normal but seems fine. I am however worried that she seems to be losing a white discharge from herself when she moves ... It doesn't smell looks a healthy colour but is obviously due to laying the egg. Also she looks big and swollen down there and her lower frame looks as though she may have more eggs to come.
She had the egg yesterday and is sitting on it , eating well and drinking.
Should I get her checked over yet or shall I wait to see if she lays any more.
20 years we thought we had a male !

Any help or advice would be really appreciated.

you could boost her calcium levels to help with the egg laying cheese is one way but if ones feedind her right fresh veg or frozen fresh fruit and a small amount of seed then she should be ok
