Eggs for my African grey

Post by Danmatson » Mon Dec 07, 2015 8:30 pm

My African grey parrot has recently started laying eggs. (After believing she was a he for around 18years or so)

I was wondering whether changing her infertile eggs for some fertile eggs would be worth a try?
She's been laying them on the floor of her cage.
Are there any uk egg sellers if this was worth a try?

Any information you may have would be great.

Hi Dan,

if she is a pet, just let her go through the motions and all will be well.
She will no doubt be a little more frisky when on the eggs, but her instinct has kicked in and it is best to leave be, or she will just keep laying until you let her - this depletes the calcium in her body and may cause bone issues.

You will not get fertile eggs from a breeder - why would they give or even sell fertile eggs when they could rear them themselves.

And if you do find any for sale - I guarantee you it is a scan and you will be sent infertile pigeon eggs, so please be careful.

If God had intended man to fly, He would have given us wings. Instead He gave us Parrots.
