Strange behaviour

Post by Oscar » Tue Nov 06, 2012 7:54 pm

Hi my friend has a 12 year old male DYH which is acting strangely
He has not had it long but now it is crouching down on the perch with its head low
it is also shaking its wings at the same time as though it is displaying ?
Doesn't do t constantly and acts normally in between these "episodes"
Can anyone help him or is this normal behaviour ?

hi oscar

i know with greys this is a sign of excited or sexual behaviour. are the birds wings spread out? i'm thinking this is normal providing he's showing no other signs of illness. could you get a photo by any chance?

when jasper is out of her cage she will do this when she is about to fly off somewhere, like in anticipation of flight. hope this helps you and your friend a little : )

This kind of behaviour is entrely normal for most short tailed parrots.
It is a form of displaying & commnunication.
If God had intended man to fly, He would have given us wings. Instead He gave us Parrots.

Hi Sorry not been online for a while
Your answers are much appreciated and welcome
the behaviour seems to have modified itself and become more sporadic so it would make sense that it is some sort of display behaviour that has settled
Thanks again
