Re: Wanted proven pair of African Greys...

Hi Emma, This forum is not really intended for adds. I am assuming you are not a member of the Parrot Society? If you were you would get a magazine each month which has in it an adverts section. There is also Parrot Advertiser on our website: http://www.theparrotsocietyuk.org/parrot-advertiser/ If y...

Re: Eggs for my African grey

Hi Dan, if she is a pet, just let her go through the motions and all will be well. She will no doubt be a little more frisky when on the eggs, but her instinct has kicked in and it is best to leave be, or she will just keep laying until you let her - this depletes the calcium in her body and may cau...

Re: Hi Everyone! Help 10 yr old unsocialised Mitred Conure

Hi Neil, Hopefully you are progressing with your conure. Firstly see it from her point of view (incidentally, both male an female will rub their vents for stimulation...), if she has been unfairly treated for such a long time, this is all she knows. You will need to take things very slowly. If intro...

Re: Reputable Breeders?

Hi Emma,

I forgot to add that if you wanted a copy of the breeding register, you will need to contact the PSUK office.
However, as this is for the benefits of the PSUK membership, you may have to join to access it.

Re: Reputable Breeders?

Dear Emma, Such lists do not really exist. However, the PSUK does produce a list of breeding results each year which our members submit breeding results to enabling compilation of a breeeders register. In addition, you could attend one of our 3 annual shows at which lovebirds are always for sale, at...

Re: Indian blue ringneck

Hi Guys, The first question that needs to be asked pf you both is where do you live? Ring necks are becoming very established in the wild in the southern counties of the uk and are startign to spread North. It is likely that they may be wild caught birds which are then being sold on in the pet trade...

Re: memeory

Hello Geoffry, Apologies for delay in response. If you have not already sorted this issue, you need to contact the organisers of the event, which is not actually teh Parrot Society - we only organise the Summer Show in July, Teh National in October and the Help Bird Leepers Show in December. They ca...

Re: Female Ecelectus

Dear Tommo. Firstly 2 things concern me about the message you have left. 1 - That you expect the parrot to talk 2 - that the parrot is not making you happy I know I am being fairly blunt here, but far too many people get parrots simply because they 'may' talk, whereas in reality they only talk if th...

Dear Geoffery, It is great that you are still keeping and managing to attend to your birds. The Spring show is not run by the PSUK, so you will have to contact the organisers, via their website: http://www.staffordspringbirdshow.co.uk/ I am sure they will provide you with contact details of the owne...

Re: HELP -Badly Behaved Hand Reared Female Lovebird

Hi Zoe, Lovebirds are known for their aggresiveness - don't be fooled by their name, as this only comes from teh fact that they like each others close company when roosting. I have kept lovebirds for many years also, and notbly the hens are worse for nipping, which fits with your current situation -...

Breeding already

Dear All, Thought I'd inform you that when I checked my Kakarikis nest box this morning, there was a litte fluffy chick 1 or 2 days old by the look of it siting under the hen. Hopefully 6 more to come. Has any one else had any success yet this year? I was a little shocked when she took to the box ju...

Re: hobbie breeders of african greys

Hi Billy, I take it you are wishing to set up for the purpose of breeding African greys. The shed need not be too large, but it is essential for you to have an outide flight for the birds to use. This should be a minimum of 6ft allowing the birds to flap there wings and fly little - 9 or 12 ft would...

Re: Hatching eggs ??????

Dear Mrchips. Firstly - Hatching eggs for parrots are not as readily available as those for chickens. Most Parrots will only lay 1 or 2 clutches a year, and the birds you are talking about only lay on average 2-3 eggs per clutch. Due to the longevity of the birds, the eggs are somewhat very valuable...
