Re: Breeding Ducorps

Yes leave the chick in the nest or the parents wont learn to take care of there own chicks, just keep an eye on it.

Re: Breeding Ducorps

If the smaller chick is a lot smaller i would keep an eye on it, normally they catch up but it may be safer to hand rear one of the chicks being its there first time, they will definataly get more experienced the more they rear i have seen this with birds i have kept.

Re: Breeding Ducorps

I have had galahs lay and rear chicks many times this early in the year, nest inspection is another reason some birds fail to rear. If they are ready they will be fine.

Ive never given my birds milk but do give them very small cubes of cheese, only about a quarter inch square per bird.

Re: Breeding Ducorps

Its not unusual for cockatoos to be sitting eggs this early in the year, i have galahs on eggs at the moment. Your birds are doing everything right ,sharing the incubation etc, all you have to do now is make sure you feed them enough when the chicks hatch.

Re: blue and gold macaws

Why worm if the birds dont have worms, either buy a micro scope and learn what worms look like or take a sample to your vets and get it looked at, i wouldnt put chemicals into my birds unless they were needed.
